About Us
Academic Library Copyright and Administration Consulting
Lisa Macklin and Kevin Smith are librarians and lawyers with decades of experience in library leadership as well as helping academic libraries understand and navigate copyright and changes in the scholarly communications and information policy landscape. Many of the skills to analyze and determine a successful risk management approach for copyright in libraries can be applied to administrative issues. In challenging times, we have navigated budget prioritization, HR issues, and organizational changes. We’re happy to leverage that experience to help YOU be successful, whether navigating copyright, scholarly communications, risk management, or administrative issues.
As we stepped out of our formal leadership roles, we realized we still had a lot to contribute and to learn as copyright and scholarly communications is ever-changing, particularly with the technological and social changes being brought by artificial intelligence. We have both mentored and taught many library colleagues during our careers. If we can help you navigate a copyright conundrum or advise you through a challenging administrative decision or change, please reach out to discuss how we can help your library or you as an individual.
Having spent our careers in higher education, we are aware of the budget challenges for institutions and individuals. We are committed to offering resources that are accessible, meaningful, and of value. To this end, we have included some free educational resources on this site.
We’re happy to be of service and welcome you to join us on this journey, whether it’s to read the latest blog post or explore other resources we provide. Our hope is that you find something that gives you a new insight or even inspiration.
